THE PROJECT
On Track is a fictional company I created that provides standardized safety materials (focusing on concussion prevention and a safety-first culture) for Women's Flat Track Roller Derby leagues. Most derby leagues are nonprofit and volunteer run, and as someone who played roller derby for seven years in Portland (Rose City Rollers), I found that this led to a lack of consistent safety principles across leagues.

SERVICES
Brand creation and naming, brand identity system (logo, color palette, and fonts), copywriting and illustration for posters, stickers, and brochure, found-footage safety video, and screen printed branded t-shirts.
PROCESS
I began by interviewing old coaches and players. The general consensus was that there was a severe lack of concussion awareness within the sport (along with a high risk of getting concussed). I then interviewed Haley Mills, the athletic training coordinator for Oregon State University Recreational Sports Sport Programs, about concussions in sports. After gaining lots of insight from her, I decided to focus my project on concussion awareness and well-being reminders to help people take care of their own physical and mental health both on and off the track.

Once I found my focus, I came up with a brand name and made the hand-lettered logo. Then I made the illustrations and hand-lettered main copy for the safety posters and brochure. Lastly, I created the concussion prevention video using found footage I spliced together and colorized in Premiere Pro, editing so it felt consistent with the brand identity system.
